  • Overview

    We have an opening for a Tool Room Technician – flex shift, with core hours between: 12pm-11:00pm, Monday — Friday at our Johnson Creek, WI location. This is an hourly position reporting to the manufacturing and facilities manager, with a minimum starting pay of $21.50/hour.

    GENERAL SUMMARY:

     

    The Tool Room Technician assists with building and repairing weld fixtures, assembly fixtures, and parts/assembly carts in accordance with Product Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering requirements by performing the following duties.

     

     

    This is a temporary position (6-9 months) with the possibility of direct hire.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Use saw, drill press, lathe, mill, and welding process to assist with the development of tooling
    • Recommends concepts for tooling or fixtures to meet specifications
    • Manufactures components to develop the concept into and actual tool or fixture. This is accomplished by machining, welding or fastening the component, building the tool and dimensionally verifying conformance to specifications
    • Applies algebraic and geometric formulas and standard tool engineering data to develop clamps, pins, and tooling hardware
    • Selects standard items such as bushings and tool components to incorporate into tool design
    • Modifies tooling designs according to trial or production service data to improve tool life or performance
    • Able to investigate and resolve issues related to weld or assembly fixture repairs (Fixture PM’s)
    • Repairs and updates fixtures and tools as required, due to wear, damage or specification changes
    • Sharpen drills, punches, and dies
    • Assist in ordering materials and supplies as assigned
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • High school diploma
    • 1-3 years experience in welding or machining
    • Experience with the use of precision inspection instruments
    • Possibility of being enrolled in a Tool and Die apprenticeship or Journeyman program
    • Requires the use of blueprints, mathematics, handbook formulas, and precision measuring instruments
    • Ability to operate a saw, lathe, drill press, mill, and also weld

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

     

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
